When art is done tired
knowing when to quit is sometimes circumstance
tired - digital painting and art prints - 2003
Like most artists, I enjoy the process of creating. I enjoy being lost in my own world, enjoy being lost in a space where nothing else matters.
Knowing when to call a piece finished is an incredible challenge - to many it is the challenge. One doesn’t want to call it done too soon; it is important to work through the problem sufficiently. And one doesn’t want to work a piece to death - for it will have lost its essence.
The above piece was aborted - I was too tired to think of where to take it - but every time I looked at it to see about finishing - I liked it as is.
And after three or four times of this, I decided it was done. And I think it is - it has a wonderful flow and a clean look - and if I didn’t enjoy the process so much, I think I could do more pieces like this.
