Lyrics to first song which sets tone for album

New CD - 1danband | dansingnew - available now!
The first track on the album as well as the first clip on the music page is probably my favorite song - not best song, not best on album, not best played - but song I probably like the best - at least this week.
As the first song - it sets the tone of the album - it is a bit amusing, definitely energetic, serious, but not all that serious. At least so I hope. The lyrics are included below - based on current observations of life:
Something must be wrong ‘cause I’m enjoying life
Seems I’m conditioned to not be this way
I’ve been way too happy, so there must be something wrong
Everybody knows, you’ve got to pay to play
We’ve been given this time
We don’t know when it will end
It’s our nature to squander
Our lot to pretend
We’ve been given this time
We might not get it again
It’s our nature to squander
And miss life staring ahead
There’s a price we all carry
For the pain of the world
Hurting our self
Just by being alive
There’s a price we all carry
For suffering through
We are all quite connected
It’s just one universe
Please go to the music page or listen to the excerpt from this song directly.

dansingnew - fresh, life, start, joy and transition

Original Size Art - dansingnew - Dec 2005 - available for purchase soon. Please listen to Clip.
Having created this CD cover and digital painting on the computer using a mouse per usual, I have been pleased that so many people who know both myself and Trish - say how much it captures us.
Capturing a likeness isn’t a sure thing. Many times an artist feels he has captured the essence, yet very few, if any see it.
I used no photos to refer to or even start with, but I am pleased with the results. Our postures, the way we are holding hands, and the look on our faces grabs ahold of something essential.
I don’t know exactly how I pulled it off or even sure that I could routinely - but it does somehow capture us. Since so much of the music is about us and the play on words of dansingnew - what a totally appropriate cd cover and actually better than I expected it to come out.

New Song Writing, Adding Bass Guitar, Overall Sound

Cover of new music CD - Listen to clip from 1st track
Over the last year, I have been remarklably prolific as a song writer - well for me anyway - over 30 songs last year. Given that, I couldn’t resist recording some of the music that I have come up with.
I am mostly a guitar player - but have managed to develop enough technique with various drums and percussion to create a small band sound.
In this venture, I have added bass guitar, which on the surface seems like would be a simple adjustment from the bass strings of the guitar - since the notes are the same though the octaves different. However, it is another thing to think like a bass player or hear like one.
Finding the right bass line was a new kind of challenge and that is probably part of the freshness here though the songs are very positive as well. All in all, I am really pleased with the results and overall sound.
Though not available for purchase at this writing, I expect the cd to be available soon at outhousestudios.net/music. And I will be posting more clips.
