Hoes in the Mist - Digital Painting / art prints - Dan Beck 2006
Yesterday morning was one of the first days in a long time which started out cool. Now I have no right to talk about cool to the rest of the country, but that is not my point. It was misting out and as I drove upon my road I saw a crew hoeing in the mist.
The title "Hoes in the Mist" amused me enough that I had to render it in some fashion … and as it turns out not that far off from what I saw in that brief moment.
While I was in the organic produce industry, one of my favorite labels from some Santa Cruz growers was "Cows in the Mist". When I shared an art print with my partner, she immediately went to that old "Kansas" song - All we are is "hoes in the mist".
Of course, hoes have other connotations these days and I would never want to be accused of missing an opportunity for a pun. So this is just another chance to hoe-ne my skills.
