image stays fresh from the Santa Lucia’s

Santa Lucia Impression - digital painting / art prints - 2005

I just finished creating a  guide to blog articles by image - link is also on left panel.  In the process I discovered I had never done an article specifically about this digital painting.

I am shocked because it continues to be one of my favorites. I must confess when I first completed it I was unsure. But it is amazing how well received this piece has been during its exhibitions and my appreciation had already grown prior.

It has been displayed both in a 16 x 20 inch frame and also a 24 x 30 inch frame. It is dramatic in both.

From the perspective of this piece - on the road just below - these mountains are incredibly lush and dramatic - not a specific place as much as the impression they made upon me.

Art Prints starting at $95

I was looking at this page of original art works starting at the above price. I have been in the process of making sure all my website pages are coded correctly for HTML and this one I was cleaning up today.

That process is not so related to art - but I thought looking at this page that the works are very pleasing as a group together. They comprise many of my favorites from the last year.

Part of what I like about them is that each of them looks good whether printed small or large. This is something I always strive for - but don’t always succeed.

I am proud of the images on this page - and I suppose it would be a good place to start if one were looking to own a piece of art and needed help narrowing it down.

Two Pick 2 - digital painting / art prints - Dan Beck - 2006

When a piece works well both small and large, I really feel like I’ve hooked it. To me, this digital painting is quite strong.

There is a boldness to the image which is quite iconic. As though the piece was practically clear enough to be a logo.

The perspective is incredibly clear and straightforward and I think that is part of the reason it reads so clearly. The colors are also vivid and primary - nothing confusing about the immediate perception. Even the two figures are immediate.

In the spirit of double talk - there is complexity but it is masked by simplicity.

Spinach Harvest - Digital Painting - Dan Beck - 2005

I have already written about this piece and even featured the image more recently as illustration for one of the points on being creative.

I am featuring this digital painting again today because the spinach crews were harvesting again in the same field next to my house.

Not so much a full year cycle but a growing cycle - for the crops are in full swing here and the men who bunch spinach do so on their knees. They are experts and you can be assured this is what they do each day.

Growing food and working the land is probably the most grounded work that anyone could think of - but with markets, business, and making money - men are made into parts just like other aspects of our world.

I am sad we have built a world where people are treated like things - sad that money is like god - sad that with every image, I feel obligated to give options to buy art prints - sad there are so many conflicting interests.
