Second Digital Painting
creating without concern - when results do not matter
Second-work - digital painting / art prints - Dan Beck 1998
The above digital painting was the second piece I ever did. Actually, it was done using the drawing program rather than the painting program which I use these days.
What I love about this piece is that it is so innocent. I had no idea what the program could do or not do - and had absolutely nothing to lose in doing the work.
It was just fun. I worked abstractly because it was all about playing at that point. I had next to no control over the mouse at that time - in fact, I wondered how I would ever learn to do anything except that kind of free form fun.
I didn’t even own a printer at that time and was unable to email my images. There is something very powerful about creating without concern about the results.
